The Situation Room is automatically activated in the background when NEO Planner launches and remains active until NEO Planner is closed.
Users can access the room via the main screen or toggle it on and off from any screen using Ctrl+S.
The Situation Room is automatically displayed whenever the NEOCP Background Check is initiated.

Waiting for NEOCP data
The upper information box displays important changes occurring on the NEOCP (NEO Confirmation Page) hosted by the MPC (Minor Planet Center).
The primary focus here is on all objects currently included in the observation schedule that have undergone changes.
Examples:
- A change in the number of observations.
- When an object has been assigned a provisional designation and subsequently removed from the NEOCP list.
- When an object has been deleted from the list—typically because it was identified as a satellite, or because the object was removed by the original submitter.
Furthermore, the system highlights new NEOCP objects if they fall within the scope of the current observation schedule.
It checks whether the new object is located within a specific Right Ascension / Declination window (specifically, within +/- 1 degree).
Additionally, the new object must fall within the permissible magnitude limits (Vmag) as defined by the planning parameters.
The Situation Room thus serves as a valuable tool for monitoring the NEOCP, specifically tailored to the observer's planning horizon and equipment capabilities.
This saves the observer a significant amount of personal time that would otherwise be spent manually monitoring the NEOCP,
as they receive—both visually and, optionally, via audio alerts—immediate notification of important changes relevant to their specific equipment setup.

Log of user cases
The lower pane logs all significant user-initiated events within the NEO Planner. These include the planning process itself as well as the NEOCP background check.
Additionally, critical errors are displayed—specifically, so-called "timeout" issues involving external servers.
